The Waffle House Invitational Mixes

For those of you who may not know (and how you don't know, I'll never know -- unless you are overseas) the Waffle House is a late night restaurant where we often go after a long night out somewhere. It is so popular among my friends and me, that we decided to have a mix session one day and dedicate it strictly to the Waffle House. Sounds silly if you have never been there, but these places are hangover savers and the food is delicious at 3 am. Note that these are big files as the mix was several hours.

Catching up

I can't wait for fall to get here. We are really looking forward to
spending quiet evenings on the pool deck when it is in the low 70s
outside. I'm sure that in those days we'll be outside an awful lot
enjoying dinner and conversation without sweating and dodging stray rain
drops through the screen.

We've been super-busy lately. We have had plans for the past 3 weekends
and we have stuff going on for the next 2. This is our life though; we
love traveling and living for the weekend. I'm keeping the pictures up to
date on the picture section of my site though. You can easily see
everything we've been up to at http://www.djlucas.us/photos/

It's crazy that today is 5 years from the attacks of 9/11/01. Time flies
as I can remember being in my step-brother's apartment watching the
coverage on TV. I can't imagine how fast the next 5 years are going to
pass. It is weird how life keeps moving and time never alters.

No More Pluto

Today is a historic day that will change what textbooks and planetariums
teach going forward. Pluto was delcared to be a dwarf planet today. That
means our solar system only now has 8 planets.

It is really cool to be alive when things like this happen

Active Young Adults

We've got a lot of cool things coming up in the next few weeks:

- This weekend (8/25) we are going to Daytona for a get-a-way weekend. We
are celebrating one year of being together and my 28th birthday. My god
that sounds weird saying that. I can't believe in two years I will be
30!!!

- Next weekend we are going to North Carolina for Hollie and Roberto's
wedding. It should be an awesome time in the mountains with Angie and her
family. I'm actually djing the wedding which will be something new for me.
I can't wait to see the mountains again.

- The weekend after that we are going to Ft Myers to see my grandmother
who is flying in from Ohio. That wil be a nice weekend as Angie will get
to see her friend Jackie who is having a baby pretty soon.

- The next weekend is our 4 year Orbital Grooves Party in Lakeland
Florida. This is a two-day event that we are holding to celebrate 4 years
of being on the air! You can view info about the party by clicking

We enjoy life =)

She starts tomorrow

Things continue to go good (this is kind of the theme of our life right now). Angie starts her first day of school tomorrow with a class of 18 kids. She’s done some really awesome work getting her classroom setup. There are pictures in the picture section under Angie and Luke in the Random Pictures & Videos. She’s really excited and I know that she is going to make an awesome teacher.

For me, music continues to be a great outlet. I haven’t put out a new track this month but I hope to start one this week. We are still planning our big party for the radio station in Lakeland this September. It looks to be a really big success with people coming in from all over to be a part of it. I hope to still release a professional cd before this year is over.

Hello 3rd Grade

Angie got a job! She'll be teaching 3rd grade right by our house starting
early August. I'm so happy and excited for her. She is going to be such an
awesome teacher. We had a great weekend at my house. My family is a lot of
fun and we enjoyed great food, tons of laughs, and great people.

Our vacation is coming up in less than two weeks!

Great weekend!

The family came together to celebrate Angie's Graduation (getting her Master's degree). It was a great time by all. We played golf, relaxed in our pool, and went to one of the nicest restaurants in Orlando. There are many more pictures at http://www.djlucas.us/pictures.html (under the family section).

Gym Rats

It was obvious that we were not going to work out at home. We bought the
Elliptical and the Chuck Norris machine and used them briefly. They then
became more crap that we had to dust occasionally to look like we actually
put our bodies on them.

Yesterday we joined a local gym in St Cloud. The price for the membership
was amazing as we got in on an special that they were doing to recruit new
members (the gym is also new).

Tonight looks to be our first workout. This could (and should) finally be
the kick that I need to get back into shape. Our family is going on a
cruise next year and we have a running bet as to which guy can be in the
best shape. I really want to win the challenge.

Chillin

It is such a virtual groundhog's day here sometimes. You could switch the
name of the day with the outfits I'm wearing and the stuff I do at work
and it would hardly ever change.

I don't think this is really how I'll end up though. I can't sit in this
cube day after day for the next 40 years until I retire. The thought of
that is actually comical. There are just too many things that I'm
interested in and too many obstacles that I want to conquer.

Life is very amazing and grandeur at the same time. It is sometimes
intimidating how much knowledge there is out there to try and obtain. I
spend so many hours researching random subjects.

Mike is coming into town this weekend and we have plans to go out and also
just relax by the pool. I hope to get out to San Diego to see his new
place later on this year with Angie. We are about 6 weeks from our road
trip and we are excited.

100

We just got back from a trip to see Angie's Aunt turn 100 years old. It was my first time being around someone that has hit the century mark. It was amazing to see some of the old pictures and listen to the family talk about how things used to be.

In contrast, there was Angie's niece who just turned 1. To think of the things that she'll see as she gets into her 60s and 70s is really exciting. Our grasp of technology while impressive, is still pretty primitive. We have so much more to learn.

In life news, things are humming along nicely. Our house is so wonderful. Everyday we do something new to it. Whether it is replace bulbs or trim trees, we are always improving on it. I hope we can get some more rain to help boost the grass as the previous occupants didn't care much for their yard.

We have plans for the next 4-5 weekends which always makes for fun times and great pictures.

Enjoying Life

Well the move was a success. We had some help as my friend Kevin did a lot of the heavy lifting with me and freed Angie up to do more of the kitchen and box packing, etc. We did the whole house in about 8 hours and then it took us all of 2.5 days to get everything unpacked.

The house is gorgeous! We honestly sit on the pool deck almost daily and say “Can you believe we live here?” It is very gratifying that although it was shaky at times, we stuck with it and did not burn any bridges. Living in this home is very exciting for us as it gives us a great place to entertain guests and take pride in our home.

Things for Angie have been going very good. She was granted a contract with the Osceola county school system so she is guaranteed a teaching job in the fall of this year. She also has completed all of her degree requirements for her master’s degree and she should be getting that sometime within the next month or so. It is very exciting for both of us as I know how hard she has worked and seen all the long hours with her staying up late to get things finished.

I continually get encouraging words about joining Lockheed Martin this fall. I have had several meetings with my boss and his boss and things look very promising. I should be able to get a good position right here in Orlando with a significant pay raise.

Music is going good as well. I have completed 9 tracks on my quest to make an original cd. I have also found a buyer for my turntables and will be parting with them in June of this year. I have moved to playing all digital tracks on cdjs. It is so much more efficient and affordable. I should have done it a long time ago.

To see pictures of the house, click on http://www.djlucas.us/pictures.html and click on the gallery of Angie and Me. The first album is of our move.

Chapter Closed, Exciting One Beginning

I'm the kind of person that likes to really emphasize the changes that we
go through in life. Since I can remember, I have made a big deal about
things that represent new beginnings or ends to current ways of living.
This week marks one of those changes as we move into our new house in 4
days.

It took a lot for me to get to where I am. I had to realize that living in
my hometown was not healthy for me. I had to realize that trying to have
all the answers for someone and enabling them to be dependant is not a
good relationship. I had to learn financial responsibility. Over the past
12 months I hope that I've learned or at least started to learn most of
these lessons. In a lot of ways I've really grown up since moving to
Orlando in Feb of 2005.

Now, in just a few days, Angie and I will make our first home together.
Without a doubt it will be the nicest home I've ever been able to call my
own. It will be something that we are proud to show off, and will decorate
with excitement and love. After a long time of being unsure in many areas
of my life, I am starting to come to grips with the kind of person I
envision myself being in the future. Now by no means do I have any of it
figured out yet, but I am very happy and have been for quite a while now.
As soon as I started being honest with myself and listening to what I
really wanted out of life, things got better.

And as we embark on another phase of our life together, I see nothing but
happiness and success in our future. Sure there will be bumps in the road,
but Angie is the kind of person you meet once in your life. We have a
great opportunity to do some really neat stuff together in the next few
months. It will be exciting for us to share in these new memories
together.

As always there will be plenty of pictures for you all to see...

Miami Bound

I just got back from Kentucky. The purpose of our trip was for the annual Lockheed Traffic meeting. Kentucky was a very pretty place and I even saw a little bit of snow. I will be putting up some pictures soon. I actually had a really productive conference and gave a presentation that was well received by my boss and his boss. I hope it helped me secure my future with Lockheed as I received an interesting job offer in Philadelphia that I’ll probably say no to after the feedback I got in Kentucky.

Tomorrow Angie and I leave for Fort Myers. We are going to stay a day there and then head to Miami on Saturday for the Ultra Music Festival. I cannot wait for her to experience it. It’s the biggest electronic music event on the planet and it happens every year in Miami. We are going to have such an amazing time and for the first time that I can remember, it is actually going to be cool there. The forecasted high is only 70 degrees with abundant sunshine.

We start moving into our house about a week and a half from Monday (today is Thursday). I cannot wait as our patience paid off and we are going to be living in the best place either one of us ever has. We have a lot of exciting things to look forward to and yet our daily life continues to be full of fun and excitement.

In like a lion

Well not really, but March is here. Things are going great everywhere. I’m a little bored at work but it’s just because we are getting ready for our big yearly meeting and there is a lot of prep work to do. Angie is awesome. She has started the process of applying with schools in the area. I think I might get a hotel the first week she has to get up every morning at 7 am. It’s not going to be pretty!

We are really excited about going to Miami for Ultra in just a few weeks. We are also finally getting the home we wanted. We signed the lease two weeks ago for two years and we couldn’t be more excited. Our move in date looks to be April 9th.

Spring time creeps into Florida but unfortunately we don’t have much of a spring. It’s kind of like really pretty and then BOOM, hot and muggy.

Oh well I’d rather sweat than freeze

End of February

Jesus the months fly by! I feel like an old farmer sitting on his porch with a blind dog and an ugly wife saying stuff like that but oh well. Our California trip was absolutely amazing. We had such a good time and took some amazing pictures. They are posted in the picture part of the site for your enjoyment. It was great to see Mike, Kristen, and their little boy Sean. We did a lot of really cool things in a short amount of time. I can’t wait to go back and experience even more.

The weather is slowly changing in Florida. It still gets somewhat cool, but nothing like it was a month ago. I think we’ll have one or two more artic shots and then the warming will begin. Maybe I can sweat off 80 pounds this summer. That would be nice. Work and life are going pretty smooth right now. We are looking forward to going to Ultra in a few weeks in Miami. That’s always a musical highlight of the year. Angie’s been busy finishing her degree program for graduate school and that is taking a lot of her spare time. I’ve put a nice dent in the local girl scout cookie inventory.

My Valentina

So today is a pretty good day. I just got off being sick for 4 days, the weather is beautiful, and it is Valentine’s Day! It looks like I’ll be cooking dinner for Angie at home because she has a big project she’s working on for school. That’s fine though; I enjoy cooking and we’ll have a nice fire going. We have a crazy weekend coming up as we leave for California to see my friend Mike on Thursday afternoon.

I know the blog talks a lot about Angie but that’s the biggest and most exciting part of my life right now. I am extremely honored to be her Valentine. She took excellent care of me when I was sick this weekend and does nothing but thoughtful stuff for me on a daily basis. It amazes me how she never fails to be considerate. I hope to woo her with a stellar dinner tonight although she can cook like Emeril.

For our trip coming up this weekend, we’ll be hitting up the San Diego Zoo, taking a tour of a winery, and seeing the Pacific Ocean for the first time. I’m extremely excited about all three of those activities. The weather looks to be a little cool while we are out there, but who gives a crap because we’ll be in Cali!

We also plan on spending a day driving around in Los Angeles. Who knows what we are going to see but we’ll be those people holding up traffic and thinking that every blonde is Paris Hilton and every guy might be Tom Cruise. You can bet your last truffle that we’ll have tons of pics and videos from the trip for your viewing pleasure as always.

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! Check out my lovely Valentina!

Wrapping up January

It's funny because I was telling everyone how fast 2005 went. By the time I was done, the first month of 06 is already gone. It is amazing how fast time can go. I am sure that one of the biggest reasons time seems to move so swift is that we are always on the go and looking forward to the next event.

Our trip to Daytona was a lot of fun. My friend Johnny has an amazing home in Port Orange and he let us crash there. As usual it was a lot of fun seeing my old friends and catching up. I really miss the guys that I used to see on a regular basis when we were playing ball. When we get together, nothing but laughter and obnoxiousness ensue. I have some pics up from the weekend on my site.

We continue to have exciting things in the mix. My family has decided to come up for the weekend of Feb 11th and it looks like they'll be here for the whole weekend. It is always a good time when they are around as we laugh and party together.

Angie has been making some awesome stuff in the kitchen. I've started the Atkins Carb Restriction diet and she is a blessing in helping me with the meals. I can't imagine my life without her at this point. We are doing excellent.

She just made beef jerky yesterday. It is delicious!

Miss the Keys Already

Wow what a vacation. It is amazing to me that no matter what we do; Angie and I always have the best time. We just spent 4 days in the keys and had the time of our lives. It was one of our best trips yet. I have put up the pictures on my picture page. The weather was very good the whole time and we did everything we wanted to while there. The Keys truly are a special place and we managed to escape any hangovers or bike accidents so all is well.

And just as soon as one trip is over, we are already planning our trip to California. I’ve wanted to the see the Pacific for as long as I can remember, and I have heard nothing but awesome things from my friends about San Diego. We are going to hit up the San Diego Zoo and some other things. Life is great!

Missin Her Monday

Angie is in Jacksonville and I miss the hell out of her. She had to go up
there to do some of her school work and visit with the fam but I hate
being without her. We have such a good time together and there are so many
laughs. Oh well, she'll be back tomorrow evening.

We had a great weekend together again. Acutally they are always great. We
went to a new club on Saturday night with a few friends and had a good
time. The rest of the weekend we watched movies and relaxed. We sat out by
the fire and also sat inside by our indoor fireplace. All in all we had a
great 3 days together.

In just 2 more sleeps we are on vacation again. This time we are headed to
the keys for a full 4 days. I can't wait to go. We'll be taking videos and
pictures galore.

After that we will be preparing for our California trip in February. Then
in March we have a few things going on. Our friends always comment on how
busy we are and how active things are but that is the way we like it. You
only live once and we aren't about to confine ourselves to the house even
though we love where we live.

Minus 2

Such a small amount, but I’ve lost 2 pounds. I’m still doing good on the eating plan and it is 100% thanks to Angie. She’s all over me about calories and what is a good choice for lunch, etc. I really appreciate her patience with me as I can turn into an instant 5 year old when she tells me no.

In other news, we leave for the keys in basically one week! This is a trip we decided to do back in December as something nice for her birthday. We are going with my step-brother Eric and his wife Lisa. Her birthday is on January 16th, just 3 days before Angie’s. We’ll be down there for almost a full 4 days. We are all super excited about it. We are sharing a bed n breakfast and renting bikes for our primary mode of transportation.

I’ll be sure to take some amazing pictures as the Keys are one of the prettiest places you can go in Florida.

Arctic

I don’t know how in the hell it gets so cold, but it’s freezing here. As I type this I’m sitting in Central Florida under a freeze warning. I’d hate to be up north right now. There is no way I could live anywhere but here except maybe the islands or something.

Life is excellent right now. Angie and I had a great thing happen to us recently. I will save my fingers the typing and just link you to a post about the event. Please read http://www.ogrforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=7863 that link to learn more about what looks to be our new home for a while. We are extremely excited about the opportunity to live in such a place.

In site news, I finally got a message board! The link is in my signature. In just over 24 hours, the forum is out of control. I really wanted a place that was my own for my friends and acquaintances to hang out and trade information. I also wanted a place that my close friends could make fun of me and I could return the favor. I warn anyone reading this that the board is not for the faint of heart or those with high morals. This is the Internet and the land of free speech. I am not censoring my message board as like most things, I prefer to remain as real as possible. I can’t wait to see the board grow. Hell it also gives me something to do at work during downtime.

The record sale is going awesome. The records are drawing just the kind of attention I wished. I can’t wait for them all to be gone and then I can begin the process of making cds to dj with. I will then sell the turntables and get some very high end cd decks. It will literally free up my studio and allow me to shrink my space and bring Angie’s stuff into here. We want to be as close as possible all the time.

She is going wonderful. For the first time in 27 years I truly believe that I now have a mature and healthy relationship. The kind of compatibility and friendship we have at the simplest levels is something I have never experienced. I am very thankful for her and what she has done for me (and continues to do). She, without a doubt, is the single best thing that has happened to me in a very, very long time.

So I’m going to continue ripping these records onto my hard drive and flame the fire. The heat in the house is on but there is still cold air in here.

2006

It is really incredible that 2006 is here. I can’t believe how fast 05 went. The amazing thing about time is that you really never get it back. I will never be able to go back to 2005 unless it is just through memory. In the end it ended up being a really great year for me. I finally moved away from Fort Myers, met the girl I plan on staying with, and did a lot of soul searching to figure out just what direction I would like to move forward with.

This year I plan on doing a full cd of original music, making a career move and getting the hell back in shape. I’ve been out of shape for almost 4 years now, and I’ve had enough. Angie is going to be a huge help as she is very supportive and patient with me. I am so lucky to have someone so wonderful in my life.

Our new years celebration was really fun. Eric and Lisa came up for Fort Myers and we all went to Epcot at Disney World. Pictures can be found at http://www.djlucas.us/pictures.html

Once there, click on “Vacations and Trips, and the first album will be “New Years 2006”.
