I can remember being a very small kid and having music all around my life. This is largely due to my Dad who plays the guitar. I grew up on hip hop and Miami bass music. As soon as I had my own room, I had bazooka tubes making as much bass as possible. We spent hours making speaker boxes, buying bass music cds, and annoying our parents and neighbors.
Music has always provided a mental outlet for my thoughts. I can remember specific songs throughout my life that signaled a major event or fundamental shift in how I approached things. When the baseball segment of my life was over, I gravitated towards getting involved in music. For me this became being a dj and managing an Internet radio station. The station is still on the air, but it has pretty much run its course. I started a record label because I wanted to make music. That record label is still alive but most of the artists have stopped making music. My current plan is to revamp the label and start making music again in the summer of 2012. I can't describe the creative release that making something from scratch provides. I know now how artists and engineers feel. It is addicting.
Today I listen to mostly electronic music. Sub-genres that you'll find the most on my playlists are breakbeat, progressive house and trance, dubstep and atmospheric drum n bass. I also listen to a ton of space and ambient music (including musical scores) when I am working or reading.
Click the banner to visit my record label. Soon enough I'll be blogging about making new music and providing demo links, etc. As you have seen if you visit the blog I already feature a lot of guest mixes that my dj friends provide.
